New Steam Release Turns Famous DVD Screensaver Into Survival Game

If you’ve ever wanted to relive the excitement of seeing a DVD screensaver bounce around your TV screen, this brand new game might be right up your alley.

DVD Survivors is a brand new game released on Steam where you play as this screensaver bouncing at each wall on the screen.

You’ve spent so much of your life staring at this screen while deciding what to watch. Only this time, developer Signal Spike Games has turned it into a fast-paced action survival game.

“DVD Survivors is a bullet-heaven roguelike where you bounce off the edges of the screen, grab weapons, stack a build that probably shouldn’t work, and obliterate waves of digital garbage like pop-up ads, error windows, crypto miners, cookie banners, Clippo, and a whole lot worse,” reads the blurb on DVD Survivors.

“You don’t have to worry about movement controls: the DVD Survivor goes where it wants. The DVD Survivor bounces on its own.

“You build the run, trigger evolutions, stack synergies, exploit the corners, and use your attacks to survive 8 minutes of escalating screen-born nonsense.”

DVD Survivors Is A Fresh Take On The Survivor-Like Formula

It essentially looks like the movie buff’s take on Vampire Survivors, featuring fast-paced, quick action sequences played from a top-down point of view, with loads of different unlockables to discover.

According to Signal Spike Games, there are 62 weapons, 46 evolutions, and 24 synergies to unlock, all while fighting against 135+ enemies, 35+ bosses, and “digital trash everywhere” as well.

For fans of games with lots of depth to them, such as Vampire Survivors or The Binding of Isaac, it looks like a fun one to enjoy.

If you fancy picking it up, you can grab DVD Survivors for £3.77 at the moment, with the game having a launch discount of 12%. That’s about the price of a cup of coffee, and it’ll probably last longer.
