New Stardew Valley Expansion Adds ‘Unexpected’ New Stories and Characters

A brand new fan-made expansion for Stardew Valley adds a load of new content, including new romanceable characters.

Stardew Valley is the game that keeps on giving, and even after ten years of the game, there’s still so much more to look forward to.

But while ConcernedApe continues work on new updates and games, fan-made mods are keeping the game trucking along nicely.

Sunrise Apartments is the one we want to highlight today, bringing in a load of new content to the game along with six new romanceable characters.

The titular new Sunrise Apartments open up in Pelican Town, located down near the beach. Head up from the beach and you’ll find a new area enclosed in the trees which brings you to the apartments.

“This mod is an expansion focused on six characters who are seeking an escape in these apartments, a place where each of them will uncover new stories, unexpected connections,” reads the description from mod author Sivarior.

These characters include Janelle, a lawyer who has since pivoted to teaching, and Kiara, a young woman pursuing her dream of becoming a successful fashion designer and content creator.

Then there’s Ethan, an A-list actor with countless films to his name, who steps away from the bustle of the big city in search of peace and tranquility, and Dean, who works at the saloon as a bartender and spends his free time boxing.

Finally, there’s Caleb, a single father who built the apartments, turning them into a home and creating a new bond with his tenants.

There’s a sixth NPC too, but they remain a secret for now, with Sivarior simply saying “A mysterious presence seems to linger in the apartments…” in the description. This character isn’t in the mod yet, but will be added in a future update.

To go along with these new NPCs, the Sunrise Apartments mod adds 80 new events to the game, with each one helping you get to know these new characters and improve your relationship with them.

Future updates planned for the mod include the sixth NPC, marriage dialogues for each character, seasonal clothing, and spousal rooms for after marriage. There’ll also be more dialogue added over time.
