New PS Plus September Game Already Has a Shutdown Date

PS Plus game

A PS Plus Extra September 2025 game is already scheduled to have its servers shut down, per a notice on its publisher’s website. It’s not unusual for annual/sports multiplayer games to have a limited shelf life, so those jumping into WWE 2K25 (PS5, PS4) — whether through PS Plus or a full purchase — should take note that they have 1.5 years to enjoy its online elements.

Wrestling game WWE 2K25 joined PS Plus 6 months after launch, and we can see why

WWE 2K25 launched back in March, so players were a tad surprised when it headlined PS Plus Extra’s September catalog additions. Well, now you know why. The game is scheduled to be shut down on March 14, 2027.

1.5 years is plenty of time to pop all those PS5, PS4 trophies and aim for 100% completion, though!

On a serious note, do keep the shutdown date in mind if you plan to purchase WWE 2K25 following its exit from PS Plus, or any of the following 2K games scheduled for shutdown:

  • NBA 2K24 (31 December, 2025)
  • MyTEAM Mobile 2K24 (31 December, 2025)
  • NBA 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • MyTEAM Mobile 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • The Golf Club 2019 (October 30, 2025)
  • PGA TOUR 2K21 (October 30, 2025)
  • PGA TOUR 2K23 (February 28, 2027)
  • TopSpin 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • WWE 2K24 (January 5, 2026)

Absolutely, it really raises questions about how long developers will support these games post-launch. With so many titles relying on online features, it’s crucial for players to be aware of server shutdowns. It might also impact how we choose which games to invest our time in.

You make a great point! It’s interesting to see how server support can vary so much between titles. This situation might encourage developers to rethink their long-term plans and the sustainability of online features in future releases.
