Warhorse Studios has confirmed the follow-up to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 could launch next year, as all signs point to a spin-off adventure.Â
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has become a major hit both critically and commercially, for developer Warhorse Studios, having sold over five million copies since it launched in February last year.Â
Following its success, the studio recently confirmed it is working on two new projects: a Lord Of The Rings open world role-playing game, and a ânew Kingdom Come Adventureâ.Â
After the announcement last week, Warhorse communications director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling appeared on a livestream on Friday (May 22) to provide further details about the studioâs next title.Â
While itâs not confirmed that the next âKingdom Come Adventureâ is definitely not Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, the studioâs planned launch window for the title suggests itâs a smaller scale evolution from its predecessor.Â
According to Stolz-Zwilling, the next Kingdom Come game is set to launch in the ânext fiscal yearâ, so anytime between April 2027 and March 2028.

âIf everything goes right it comes next fiscal year,â he said. âWhich means you donât have to wait seven years for another Kingdom Come. That is good!â
Additionally, the dev confirmed the next title in the series will be an âopen world RPGâ like the prior two games.Â
To achieve such a tight turnaround, itâs likely the next game will crib from the world and mechanics built for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. So itâs likely a smaller scale offering in the vein of Dying Light: The Beast or Spider-Man: Miles Morales.Â
Either way, it suggests the Lord Of The Rings game is further out, which makes sense as it will take a lot more work to build the assets for Middle-earth and try to replicate J.R.R. Tolkienâs world.
Prokop Jirsa, a designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, is the creative director on the next Kingdom Come entry, while Viktor Bocan is leading the Lord Of The Rings team.Â
Warhorse reportedly had around 250 employees in 2024, and even if it has staffed up more since, two open world role-playing games is still a massive undertaking for that number of people.
But assuming the Kingdom Come game isnât a mainline sequel the plan may be to finish it off relatively quickly and then move everyone across to The Lord Of The Rings.
