cyberpunk Netflix Confirms Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Fall 2026 Release, Four New Characters Revealed

Netflix dropped the first details for four new characters coming to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and confirmed a fall 2026 release window.

Nearing the eve of Anime Expo 2026, Netflix is riling up the animation fans again—as a new story is coming from Night City. Today, Netflix released a new poster visual for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, along with details on four new characters and a fall 2026 release window. This is not necessarily a season 2 to the first season’s story, but a standalone sequel. The first trailer will be released later today on the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

This show is based on CD Projekt RED’s game, Cyberpunk 2077, and even saw sales increase after viewers enjoyed the show. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was critically-acclaimed, going as far as beating Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer to win Anime of the Year at the 2023 Anime Awards.

The four characters introduced in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax, and Talia Yang. Weak Kingsley’s description reads: “Once known as ‘King,’ a veteran Edgerunner at the top of his game, Weak now lives in the shadow of his former glory.” He towers over the four-person crew, who appears to be a burly, bearded man with tinted shades. D is a “Snake Nation netrunner who hunts the killer that wiped out his clan.” Netrunner D looks like a generic anime dude, but is marked with a strange red scar across his face.

Roman Carax, the youngest of the new characters introduced in this update, is described as a “young cinephile in search of real stories in a city that abandoned cinema for braindances.” We see him holding an old school camcorder as a literal “witness to every legend” in a city. Talia Yang’s description reads: “She hails from the Corpo towers, but her heart belongs to chrome and violence.” She is seen wearing a black tactical mask and vibrant pink hair. The official story description reads: “In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

The second season will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, who was an artist on the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Studio TRIGGER collabs with CD Projekt RED again to bring another Night City story. The 2022 anime crew was almost completely wiped out, but this new 10-episode standalone sequel moves on to a fresh batch of mercenaries charting “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.” Based on last year’s reveal at Anime Expo 2025, Netflix will most likely share more details on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at one of the biggest anime conventions of the year. Last year, we saw that the show was being produced. Of course, we now know it is done and coming out this fall.

Not to get fans overly excited, but I would not put it past Netflix to show off some exclusive clips, character art, or hear more from the voice actors for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 exclusively for Anime Expo attendees. Anime Expo is known to drop major anime/animation news. We learned this after seeing Crunchyroll’s 2026 slate at the convention before being widely released to the public. We also saw a solid clip of the first episode of The Summer Hikaru Died, so maybe this might be the same case for this Cyberpunk show sequel.
