Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a DLC overhaul and a permanent price cut

Capcom will permanently lower the price of Monster Hunter Wilds starting August 6, 2026, although we don’t know by how much just yet. The goal is to make the game more appealing to new players ahead of its next major expansion.

In addition, the digital editions are being streamlined. For starters, the old editions (Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, etc.) will be phased out in favor of new, more straightforward offerings:

  • Gold Edition: which will include the base game and existing premium content
  • Ultimate Edition: which will also include the upcoming expansion and additional bonuses.

New cosmetic DLC packs will also be offered to replace the old bundles, which players sometimes found confusing.

These decisions come as Monster Hunter Wilds has a mixed year: despite coming out to a record-breaking launch, the game has faced criticism regarding its technical performance (particularly on PC) and received a mixed reception on Steam. The title was also announced earlier this year to be coming to Switch 2.
