Monster Hunter Wilds director asks players to give the game another try

On Wednesday, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds gave an interview at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2025 Japan Asia.

During the interview, he naturally talked a lot about the latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise, particularly about the difficulty level, which was considered too low. Tokuda explained that the title was deliberately designed to be more accessible to new players, which had the effect of making it too easy for veterans.

The team identified the sticking points for beginners, such as access to certain monsters and armor crafting, and adjusted these elements. A Focus mode was also introduced, again with the aim of offering a more consistent level of difficulty.

Addressing players who gave up and found the game too easy, Tokuda said:

โ€œIf you finished the game immediately after its release and stopped playing, I would appreciate it if you could give it another try.โ€

It’s worth noting that Monster Hunter Wilds was a huge success upon its launch, selling a total of 10 million copies within 30 days.
