Alongside revealing Ascendance, Monster Hunter Wilds’ first paid expansion, Capcom confirmed months-long rumors that the base game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. There are no further details, sadly – just that it’s in the works and that a release date will be announced at a later time.
If it follows the same pattern as Monster Hunter Rise on PC and then PlayStation and Xbox consoles, then you can most likely expect it to release sometime early next year. That would also mean a staggered release for Ascendance, which is out next year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
However, it’s worth noting that Capcom has been working on the Nintendo Switch 2 port for some time. Dataminers first reported this as far back as January, noting low-graphics options and 30 FPS performance with DLSS on the platform. It also reportedly supports wireless local multiplayer. Take all this with a grain of salt, however, since plans may very well have changed during development.
Either way, Switch 2 players will finally get their chance to enter the Forbidden Lands with its massive locales, changing weather, and brand-new monsters. Despite lacking much by way of end-game content at launch, Wilds has since expanded with threats like Gogmazios, Arch-tempered Monsters, and much more.
As for Ascendance, you can learn more about its new locale, the Skybound Eyrie, and the Boost Bracer here.
