The event starts with virtual onboarding, followed by an intensive period of hacking, augmented by mentoring and progress reviews. At the core of the hackathon is the challenge to employ the Open Identity Stack on the Moca Chain, the latest advancement from Moca Network designed to foster practical applications of digital identity away from conventional centralized Single Sign-On (SSO) systems, which are prone to privacy breaches and loss of data control.
Moca Chain, introduced by the Moca Foundation, is a specialized Layer 1 blockchain tailored for managing digital identities and user data with autonomy. It’s EVM-compatible and features a modular architecture, focusing on privacy and data verification through technologies like zero-knowledge proofs and decentralized storage.
