Picture this, Minecraft in space.
Well, thatās essentially whatās on offer in upcoming open-world release Astromine which just stopped by for an appearance during Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition.
Developed by Alientrap, Astromine combines the voxel-based fun of Minecraft with the space exploration of Starfield, resulting in a co-op survival experience that looks like a blast to play.
āAstromine is a co-op survival game set in a fully destructible voxel solar system. Every planet, creature, and structure is made of voxels with real physics. Dig through worlds, collapse walls, burn bases, and carve into alien monsters,ā a press release reads.
Players will land on procedurally generated planets, each with their own unique terrain, resources, and hazards.
There, youāll need to dig through alien crusts, tunnel into a planetās core, and strip areas of raw materials in order to craft what you need to survive.
This wonāt be a smooth experience. Youāre engaged in a war for the solar system against a rival robot faction.
Across Astromine, youāll find fortified bases belonging to this rival faction where itās up to you to take them out; you can breach walls, disable power sources, and just generally wreak havoc.
Materials have physical properties so wood, for example, will burn and collapse under stress, so do think about what materials you use when it comes to things like building.
The gameās alien life is also voxel-based, and plenty of the gameās aliens are not friendly.
āBlack through flesh and armour, carve into enemies to find their weak points, and watch as your weapons physically tear them apart,ā devs tease.
Over time, youāll build your own fortresses, bases, starships, and base camps, extending your empire across the galaxy.
Astromine Is Set To Land In 2026
For now, Astromine is only confirmed for PC via Steam, so thereās no word on a console launch.
We know that itās launching in 2026 although an exact launch date hasnāt been pinned down.
If you want to be kept up to date on the gameās progress, I heartily recommend you wishlist it.
Iāll also remind you that Day of the Devs is a non-profit organisation dedicated to highlighting the very best in indie gaming.
Those involved in putting on the showcase do so on a voluntary basis, relying on sponsors and donors, so please do consider supporting their efforts.
