This September 13, 2025, our beloved Mario will celebrate his 40th birthday. Super Mario Bros., the first game in the franchise, was released on September 13, 1985, on the NES in Japan.
Throughout the year, Nintendo has planned celebrations and, of course, new releases for this major event. For example, we will be treated to the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection on October 2 for Switch. Mario Tennis Fever will follow on February 12, 2026, on Switch 2, and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book next spring. At the same time, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will get a Switch 2 version with new content.
