Marathon now has fewer players on Steam than Hunt: Showdown 1896

Marathon, Bungieโ€™s latest AAA extraction shooter published by Sony, is making headlines again.

When comparing concurrent player stats and peak numbers over the last 24 hours, it falls short of Hunt: Showdown 1896, another AA extraction shooter that got released seven years ago and was developed by Crytek. The latter, which continues to receive new content through seasonal events, has managed to maintain its player base for several years.

As for Marathon, things are already much more complicated. Over the month of March, the number of players has dropped by two-thirds. Of course, weโ€™re only talking about Steam figures here, not console numbers, as both titles are also available on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.
