MagicCon Atlanta 2025: All The Big Announcements From The Showcase!

At MagicCon Atlanta 2025, Wizards of the Coast took to the stage to announce a wealth of new expansions for Magic: The Gathering coming in 2026, starting with Lorwyn Eclipsed.

At MagicCon Atlanta, WOTC announced a huge amount of new products coming to the tabletop for 2026, including new Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond sets like The Hobbit. Aside from those exciting collaboration sets, they also announced three new in-universe expansions coming to MTG, including the previously leaked Lorwyn Eclipsed. Now that the cat is officially out of the bag, WOTC showcased a pantheon of new cards for the set, including details on when they’re coming to the tabletop, showcase styles, reprints, and much more.

MagicCon Atlanta 2025: All The Big Announcements From The Showcase!

Like every other set release, Lorwyn Eclipsed, announced at MagicCon Atlanta 2025, introduces new (and returning) keywords and mechanics alongside fresh cards and exclusive artwork treatments from Magic: The Gathering, showcasing the duality of the Lorwyn plane. Lorwyn Eclipsed is a returning realm which hasn’t been visited in 18 years, since the original Lorwyn block in 2007, and fans will see the return of cards specific to that plane, as well as the darker side of the plane, Shadowmoor.

Aside from Lorwyn Eclipsed, WOTC pulled back the curtain further to reveal two more sets coming to the tabletop of MTG: Secrets of Strixhaven and Reality Fracture. The new artwork presented for all three sets is out of this world and will give players the feeling of carrying new (but returning) planes of MTG in their pockets.

Magic: The Gathering – MagicCon Atlanta Reveals Theme Decks and Draft Night!

Starting with Lorwyn Eclipsed, two new products are coming to the planes (and tabletops) of MTG: Theme Decks and Draft Night. Theme Decks all feature a specific theme and include a ready-to-play 60-card standard deck that features cards from each expansion they come out for. These decks can be pitted against each other to see which comes out on top, and serve as an easier entry ramp to MTG’s competitive format.

On the flip side, Draft Night is a new product designed around basic draft and the Pick-Two Draft format introduced with Spider-Man Universes Beyond. This bundle contains everything players need to start drafting right away, and it includes a collector booster that could be given away to the winner (or the buyer, player’s choice). Starting with Lorwyn Eclipsed, these two new products are coming to both Secrets of Strixhaven and Reality Fracture. WOTC intends to launch Draft Night packs for every set moving forward after Lorwyn Eclipsed.

Lorwyn Eclipsed – Specialized Treatments and Shock Land Duality

Showcasing the duality of the Lorwyn plane, Lorwyn Eclipsed brings shock lands back for both the lighter side of Lorwyn and the darker side with Shadowmoor. While shock lands have been reprinted in the most recent Edge of Eternities set, fans who have missed out on out-of-this-world shock lands can embrace the light or dark side in Lorwyn Eclipsed with reversible borderless shock lands.

The new shock lands can be found in both play and collector booster packs in traditional and non-foil treatments. While shock lands are confirmed, the showcase treatment this time around uses a Fable Frame treatment. This treatment coats each card in a fairytale aesthetic reminiscent of storybooks, and there will be a total of 10 uncommons, 16 rares, and 14 mythic cards for fans to collect. These specialized treatments announced at MagicCon Atlanta will be found in play and collector booster packs.

MagicCon Atlanta pulled back the curtain to reveal the headliner card for Lorwyn Eclipsed, and its a serialized version (limited to 500 copies total) of Bitterblosson Bearer from renowned MTG artist, Rebecca Guay. Product pricing for Lorwyn Eclipsed has also been revealed, and pricing can be seen below according to MSRP.
