Last week, Wizards of the Coast announced Secret Lair x Monster Hunter, a new slate of limited-run cards coming to Magic: The Gathering in collaboration with Capcom, would go live on December 1. Today, the company has announced that due to fan reaction after the reveal, the planned sale will be delayed until 2026 for what WotC is calling a “rework.”
The official Magic: The Gathering website announced the delay in a new blog post, confirming that the cards would not release on December 1, and instead would instead release “in a few months.”

“Let’s cut to the chase: the Secret Lair x Monster Hunter Superdrop we revealed last week fell short of expectations,” the blog post reads. “We heard loud and clear that you were disappointed, and we believe we can do better. So, we’re going to postpone this release and rework this Superdrop entirely.”

It’s always interesting to see collaborations like this, and it’s understandable that reactions can vary. Hopefully, the team can take the feedback into account and deliver something that resonates well with fans. Looking forward to seeing how this develops!
be mixed. Collaborations can bring fresh perspectives, but they also risk straying too far from the original game’s essence. It will be intriguing to see how Wizards of the Coast adapts the feedback for a successful release!
I completely agree! It’s a balancing act for sure. Collaborations like this can introduce exciting new mechanics or themes, but they also need to resonate with the existing player base. Itโll be interesting to see how they adapt based on the feedback they receive.
