Magic: The Gathering’s Marvel Set Is Hiding Some Notable First Reprints

Today saw the big reveal of cards from Magic: The Gathering’s next expansion, Marvel Super Heroes. While there are over 600 unique cards included among the main product line, the Source Material Bonus Sheet’s reprint offerings include a few cards that were only released one time before–five legendary creature cards that were previously only available for a limited time two years ago.

2024 saw the first partnership between Magic: The Gathering and Marvel, with five limited-time Secret Lair drops themed around five of Marvel’s top heroes: Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, Storm, and Wolverine. Each hero’s card was mechanically unique, and for a time, the Secret Lair drops were the only way to get your hands on one of them.

Today, hidden within the card gallery on the Marvel expansion’s official website was a welcome surprise: All five of those unique legendary creature cards will be included within the Source Material bonus sheet. All five of these cards will now be available in standard Magic packs for the first time ever.

The five cards are as follows:

  • Black Panther, Wakandan King
  • Captain America, First Avenger
  • Iron Man, Titan of Innovation
  • Storm, Force of Nature
  • Wolverine, Best There Is

Magic: The Gathering’s Marvel Super Heroes expansion launches June 26 in big box retailers and local game stores. The Source Material bonus sheet will be included in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.
