Polish developer CI Games revealed the first footage of Lords of the Fallen 2 gameplay during The Game Awards earlier this evening. The trailer shows off three bosses, confirmed via an official press release: the Heartroot Warden, a metal clad skeletal figure wielding a giant chainsword; an angelic, teleporting knight named Koydreth; and a building-sized dragon called Lingao the Souring Storm, who harnesses various elements.

“We are excited to share this first gameplay look for Lords of the Fallen II at the TGAs,” game director James Lowe states in the release. “Designed and developed in accordance with our players-first philosophy, we look forward to seeing the community’s reaction to the faster and more brutal combat, the significantly greater enemy variety, and the more spectacular boss battle showdowns.”

CI Games courted controversy earlier this year with what it calls its “player-first philosophy,” which global marketing director Ryan Hill used to disparage games with social or political elements in an earnings call earlier this year, Strefa Inwestorow reported in January. The studio also came under fire for anti-DEI remarks, including from its CEO, Marek Tyminski, and for making a big deal of changing Lords of the Fallen’s body type labeling to “Male/Female” instead of “A/B.”

“We remain committed to producing player-first video games that prioritize an excellent user experience […] while some video games have recently taken the opportunity to embed social or political agendas within their experiences, it is clear that many players do not appreciate this […]” Hill stated during the call when questioned about diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

The rebooted Lords of the Fallen arrived in 2023, earning a 75 out of 100 on reviews aggregate site Metacritic. Game Informer‘s Wesley LeBlanc awarded it a 6 out of 10.  While no release window is yet available for Lords of the Fallen 2, the Soulslike action role-playing game is set to arrive sometime in 2026.
