Editor’s note: With the news that Nintendo is bringing back Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for the Nintendo Switch 2 next month – and releasing a Super Mario Galaxy movie next year – we thought we’d resurface a lovely piece of retrospective writing on the original, from former Eurogamer Editor-in-Chief and Birdo superfan, Martin Robinson.
