A long-forgotten PS5 exclusive remake of a 2003 game might make an appearance soon, if a new rumor is to be believed. Players would be forgiven for not having Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake on their radar following its 2021 announcement, as the game hit development hell, leading some to become convinced that it had been quietly canceled.

The rumor comes from insider Kurakasis (via ResetEra), who has a pretty decent track record. According to them, a “big” Star Wars game announcement is “coming soon,” and their super obvious hint was that the title ends with “The Old Republic.”
Kurakasis reiterated that the Star Wars announcement in question has nothing to do with the upcoming projects in development at Respawn Entertainment and Quantic Dream. That leaves us with Saber Interactive and PS5’s Star Wars: KOTOR remake.
As with all rumors, we ask our readers to take this one with a massive grain of salt, and mainly because the only signs of life we’ve seen thus far are statements from Saber Interactive executives. The game was originally in development at Aspyr, but later changed hands.
At one point, it was reported that Sony was no longer interested in the title.
For the uninitiated, the original KOTOR was developed by Bioware and released in 2003 as an Xbox exclusive.
All eyes are on The Game Awards 2025, which will take place on Thursday, December 11.
