Lara Croft Returns In Double Bill, Tomb Raider: Catalyst and OG Remake Revealed

Lara Croft Returns In Double Bill, Tomb Raider: Catalyst and OG Remake Revealed

The Game Awards is now in full swing, and it’s been a really impressive showing so far, with the first awards of the night going to some deserving individuals and teams and some very exciting game announcements and trailers surfacing.

Clair Obscur has taken home its first awards of the evening, winning Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game and Best Art Direction, whilst Jennifer English took home the prize for Best Performance for her role in the game.

The fun hasn’t stopped there though, with some huge game confirmations that should have fans across the board excited. Those include Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a major new AAA project headed up by the same director who took charge of the original Knights of the Old Republic, as well as Divinity from Larian Studios, who it turns out were responsible for that monolith nonsense a week or so ago.

Now, you can add one of the most iconic franchises in the history video games to that list, as Lara Croft returns in not one, but two games that push the series forward in a big way, while at the same time taking it all the way back to its earliest days.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb: Raider Catalyst Confirmed

Crystal Dynamics

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is a brand new adventure that’s set for release in 2027. Though we don’t know too much about it yet, the trailer did give us a good look at some of the characters and storylines that may pop up along the way. The game is still very early in development, and all we got to look at so far is pre-Alpha footage, but oh boy does it look a whole lot better than ever before. Lara is still very much doing her thing, navigating impossibly dangerous terrain, and it looks like a fresh take on the traditional roots of the series.

Meanwhile, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is being described as a reimagining of Lara Croft’s original adventure on the PlayStation 1, which released all the way back in 1996. With this remake set to arrive at some point in 2026, it’s certainly a very fitting way to celebrate 30 years for the iconic franchise.

Neither of the game’s have specific release dates beyond the years of their arrival just yet, but we can expect more news on Legacy of Atlantis in relatively short order, given that 2026 is less than a month away.
