Argubly, nobody does co-op family fun quite like Hazelight and itâs with that in mind that todayâs free offering isnât quite comparable to likes of It Takes Two and Split Fiction.
That being said, if you just want something enjoyable that you can play with a friend at no cost whatsoever on PC, Stitchlings ticks all of the relevant boxes.
Developed by Studio Woolworks and published by USC Games, Stitchlings is a new free-to-play âbite-sized co-op combat adventureâ available on PC storefront Steam.
Within it, players assume the role of two plushies, fighting their way through a series of toy monsters.
There are a variety of weapons you can choose from, including a cannon, sword, and stapler-like pincer which function as the arms of your little plush character.
You can also customise the colour and patterning of your character, which is always a nice touch even if such customisation doesnât really affect gameplay.
The game is âdesigned for same-screen playâ and is compatible with two controllers, keyboard and controller or Steam Remote Play Together.

Stitchlings is set within The Workshop which devs describe as âa miniature – yet spectacularly grand – patchwork worldâ, home to several boss fights.
By all accounts, USC Games highlights the work of both current and former students at the University of Southern California so by picking this one up, youâre supporting the next generation of game devs.
As such, while thereâs no runtime listed for Stitchlings, Iâd expect this to be on the shorter side, likely only lasting for a few hours at most, if that.
Stitchlings is out today, so thereâs not exactly a review consensus yet meaning you could be one of the very first players to dive in.
I hardly imagine you need persuasion to check this one out, though. Itâs full of whimsy, can be enjoyed with a friend, and is completely free.
If you are wondering whatâs next from the aforementioned Hazelight Studios, Josef Fares recently told us to expect the studioâs âcraziest game everâ.
Hazelightâs Next Game Is Expected To Outshine It Takes Two And Split Fiction
âHere’s the thing. What we do now is going to be the craziest game ever,â Josef told GAMINGbible. âThat’s how confident I am.â
âPeople ask me a lot, like, âHow can you be so confident?â And I sometimes say, âCome to Hazelight. Feel the vibe, feel the energy and look at what we’re doing.â It’s impossible not to be confident. I mean, and also confidence is kind of my natural state.â
He continued, âI don’t know why it is, but it’s such a cool, crazy, f**ked up in a good way [studio] with such passionate, great people. It’s literally living my dream when I am at Hazelight and I’m surrounded by love. That’s the best way to describe it.â
Josef added that he has âgoosebumps […] just thinking of what we’re putting togetherâ.
âThat’s how excited I am,â he said.
