IO Interactive confirms that development of its online fantasy RPG is continuing

Following 007 First Light, which is set to release on May 27, IO Interactive will turn its attention to another all-new title tentatively named Project Fantasy. It is an online RPG that remains shrouded in mystery for now.

All we know is that the game was funded by a major third-party publisher. Previous reports mentioned that it was Xbox, but that the company had pulled out of the project after cutting funding for several games last year.

In his recent interview with The Game Business, Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, declined to confirm or deny Microsoft’s past involvement in Project Fantasy. He did, however, state that the game is « in good shape, still funded, and incredible ».

It remains to be seen whether IO Interactive has found a new partner or if the title is now self-funded by the Danish studio.
