In order to get Steam Machine Verified, games will have tu run at least at 1080p and 30 FPS

Valve has detailed the requirements necessary for a game to receive certification on the future Steam Machine. Keep in mind that the console is due this year, but launch has been delayed due to memory and storage shortages.

All games that already have Steam Deck certification will automatically get the Steam Machine one, which means that they must be able to run at 1080p at 30 frames per second. This is obviously an initial target that will be exceeded by many productions. The majority of Steam titles should be able to reach 4K at 60 FPS with FSR.

Finally, as for the Steam Frame virtual reality headset, standalone VR games (i.e., those that will run on the device’s ARM chip) will need to reach at least 90 FPS. For 2D games, a resolution of 720p at 30 FPS will be required.

This is an interesting move by Valve to ensure a quality gaming experience on Steam Machines. Setting these standards for 1080p and 30 FPS could really enhance gameplay for users. Looking forward to seeing how this impacts game development!
