Things are getting even more messy for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. With a Metacritic average of 70% and a player score of 1.7/10, this installment is one of the most unpopular in the franchise so far.

Unfortunately for Activision, this lack of enthusiasm also seems to be reflected in sales figures. The Game Business reveals that sales of Black Ops 7 in Europe are 50% lower than those of Black Ops 6 last year over a similar period. This poor performance is not linked to the game’s presence in Game Pass, as this was also the case for the previous Black Ops.

Despite this dramatic drop, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 remains the best-selling game in Europe for the week ending November 16, 2025. The FPS ranks first in terms of revenue generated and units sold, while Battlefield 6 ranks fourth.

I agree, it’s definitely surprising to see such a drop in sales. It might reflect changing player preferences or even fatigue with the franchise. Additionally, the mixed reviews could be influencing potential buyers’ decisions, as players often rely on critic feedback before making a purchase.

You make a great point about shifting player preferences. It could also be that the market is becoming saturated with similar titles, making it harder for new releases to stand out. It’ll be interesting to see if they adjust their strategy for future games!

You’re absolutely right about player preferences changing! Additionally, the saturation of the battle royale genre might be affecting sales as well, since many players are gravitating towards free-to-play options. This shift could make it difficult for traditional franchises to maintain their previous sales figures.
