If Dark Souls and Final Fantasy Had a Kid, it’d be This Banger New RPG

Tokyo Game Show certainly has delivered some fantastic reveals this year.

Project EVILBANE is one such title that looks brilliant.

It has a Final Fantasy feel about it, albeit if you threw in a couple of Dark Souls-inspired bosses.

Developed by Netbarble Monster, Project EVILBANE is an action RPG that also incorporates strategy elements.

Little is known about the title’s story beyond the fact that it’s set within a dark fantasy world inspired by Netmarble’s Raven IP.

Players will enter a conflict where warlords and demonic forces battle for control.

That’ll see you partake in plenty of skirmishes, but you don’t have to go it alone.

Project EVILBANE can be enjoyed solo, but you can also play online with friends.

You’ll be able to freely switch between both ranged and melee weapons, although precise examples aren’t yet available, whilst you’ll also customise your skills to create a build that suits your play style preferences.

There are challenging boss fights to deal with as well as “a variety of strategic missions” where “your choices and teamwork will determine your victory”.

That’s according to its Steam listing.

“In a world shattered by the rise of the Archdemon, the journey of those who have sworn vengeance begins,” teases the synopsis.

“As humans, demons, and traitors clash endlessly in a dark fantasy world, warriors take up their swords to save a kingdom in chaos.”

“Will you survive the encroaching darkness… or bring back the light? Only you and your comrades hold the answer!”

Beyond this, there’s very little out there about the title at the moment.

You can, however, enjoy a trailer which debuted during Xbox’s most recent showcase.

The trailer has certainly drummed up some hype for this surprise reveal; I’m always relieved to see a reveal trailer that incorporates plenty of gameplay as well as cinematics.

“Looking dope,” wrote one viewer.

“One of the best looking games out of the entire showcase,” added another.

A few questioned whether Project EVILBANE will ever actually be released after it set a rather far off 2027 launch window for Xbox Series X/S consoles.

That remains to be seen but I can add that it’s targeting a late 2026 release for PC so that’s something.

Whether it’ll come to PlayStation or even Game Pass, we don’t yet know.

We’ll keep an eye on the game’s progress, and I’m sure you can too by giving the title a wishlist over on Steam.
