Are you curious as to how you could get the Threefold Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong? These special fragments are part of a tune, one that you need to complete a main quest called Pharloom’s Crown. That said, you need to visit three separate locations in the Citadel just to find what you’re looking for. In any case, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers, too.
How to get the Threefold Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong – Pharloom’s Crown guide
Pharloom’s Crown is a main quest that you receive upon defeating the Cogwork Dancers, part of a duo boss encounter in the Citadel. When you interact with the ornate elevator, you’re told that you must acquire the Threefold Melody, which consists of the Conductor’s Melody, the Architect’s Melody, and the Vaultkeeper’s Melody. When you reach these locations, you must play the Needolin to receive the rewards.
Before you go on a trek to find what you seek, we suggest unlocking a couple of abilities first: The Clawline Grappling Hook and the Faydown Cloak Double Jump. Both of these should help you traverse areas in the Citadel much faster.
Conductor’s Melody: High Halls – Gauntlet Battle
This is one of the requirements for the Hollow Knight: Silksong Threefold Melody objective. It’s found in the High Halls, a sub-zone that you can reach if you take the upper-left path in Choral Chambers.
You have to loop around the High Halls area until you reach the room with a lift and a bench, as well as a Simple Key doorway. Then, to the left, there’s a chamber that leads to a gauntlet encounter. You’ll have to fight several waves of enemies, including a bout against duo Choir Clapper elites.
Note: If you obtained all Shakra maps, you’ll unlock her personal quest in the Bellhart bounty board. Completing this nets you a tool and it also causes Shakra to help you during this encounter.
Architect’s Melody: Cogwork Core – Platforming Section
The next part of the Threefold Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong requires that you delve into Cogwork Core, which is actually the area where you fought the Cogwork Dancers earlier. From the ornate elevator where you got the quest, you must head down the right-hand side of the lower section. Next, you need to climb further to the top.
This is a platforming section that’s bound to cause some headaches. Not only do you need to contend with flying enemies, but there are also spike traps and spike wheels everywhere.
Architect’s Melody: Cogwork Core – Puzzle
If you manage to reach the very top of Cogwork Core, you’ll find yourself in a chamber with four large pillars. These are actually part of a puzzle, though the solution isn’t as obvious at first glance.
Basically, you must hit the levers to rotate the symbols on each pillar. Look at the notes/symbols and make sure that all the vertical lines are connected. A bit of trial and error is needed, but you’ll be done with this part soon enough. Just stand on the dais and play your Needolin to receive another melody.
Vaultkeeper’s Melody: Whispering Vaults – The Sacred Cylinder
Finally, it’s time to obtain the Vaultkeeper’s Melody. If you’ve already explored the Whispering Vaults, then you’ve probably encountered Vaultkeeper Cardinius who’s looking for Psalm Cylinders. The item that you need, however, is called the Sacred Cylinder. It’s at the very bottom of the Whispering Vaults sub-zone.
The fastest way to reach it, assuming you’ve just obtained the Clawline Grappling Hook, is by taking the top-right exit of the Underworks. This leads you to the bottom-right portion of the Whispering Vaults. The Sacred Cylinder is just a couple of rooms away. Once you’ve acquired it, return to Vaultkeeper Cardinius, give him the Sacred Cylinder, and play your Needolin to receive your reward.
Now that you have all three tunes, head all the way back to the center of Cogwork Core where the ornate elevator is located. Play your Needolin to satisfy the conditions. This unlocks the elevator, allowing you to reach another area of the Citadel. There’s one more bout that awaits, and then it’s finally time to take on the final boss of the campaign.
That does it for our guide on how to get the Pharloom’s Crown Threefold Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Even though this is a main quest, we still encourage you to tackle other objectives, such as the Twisted Bud/Rite of Rebirth and Great Taste of Pharloom.
