How To Get And Use Traveler’s Maps In Ghost Of Yotei

Are you wondering about the Traveler’s Maps in Ghost of Yotei? These special items are quite notable since they reveal key landmarks all over the realm of Ezo. That said, trying to use them can be a bit tricky. Don’t fret, though, because our guide has all the details that you need.

How to get and use Traveler’s Maps in Ghost of Yotei

Traveler’s Maps are very important since they actually show you the locations of Altars of Reflection. Visiting those areas is absolutely necessary if you want to unlock many of Atsu’s abilities.

Note 1: Some of Atsu’s skills are available by default. Most other perks, however, require you to pay your respects at the altars before they can be selected.

Note 2: You can stumble upon these points of interest through general exploration. It’s just that the maps themselves help pinpoint their exact locations.

Traveler’s Maps sources

For the most part, you can get the Ghost of Yotei Traveler’s Maps from an NPC named Isaburo, a cartographer at the Old Inn. He sells these items in exchange for mon–i.e. the game’s basic currency.

It’s also possible to obtain three Traveler’s Maps if you own the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, which also includes additional armor dyes, charms, and even an exclusive horse mount.

How to place Traveler’s Maps

Once you have a Traveler’s Map, open the actual world map and press the button prompt for these items:

  • First, you’ll notice a statue icon and, in the background, there are outlines of terrain features that are somewhat faded. Examples include rivers, lakes, and mountain ranges.
  • Look for the exact location on the world map that matches the terrain feature.
  • Move the map to that spot and place it there. If you did it correctly, it should get affixed on the screen.

Is there another way to find Altars of Reflection?

If you don’t want to spend all your mon buying Isaburo’s maps, or if you don’t want to grab the Digital Deluxe Edition, then you can still discover Altars of Reflection by using the Spyglass tool. Here’s the gist:

  • You can press up on the d-pad to bring out the Spyglass. Pan the camera around until the cursor turns yellow. This will mark a point-of-interest on the world map.
  • In some cases, that landmark might be an altar. Since it’s marked on the world map, you can visit it at your leisure.
  • For best results, you want to use the Spyglass while on a higher vantage point–i.e. watchtowers, hilltops, the peak of Mount Yotei, and the like. Being on high ground gives you a great view of your surroundings.

That does it for our guide on how to get and use Traveler’s Maps in Ghost of Yotei. If you’re eager to start your journey, we encourage you to check our beginner’s guide.
