How To Complete The Verdania Green Prince Quest In Hollow Knight: Silksong

Are you curious about the motivations of the Green Prince in Hollow Knight: Silksong? This is an NPC that you can rescue while exploring Pharloom. While you might encounter him later, it’s still unclear as to how you’d be able to aid him. Our guide has all the details you need as we take you from one location to another, culminating in a visit to the lost realm of Verdania. Still, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.

How to unlock Lost Verdania in Hollow Knight: Silksong – Green Prince quest guide

Lost Verdania is a secret area, so you need to put in a bit of effort if you want to unlock it. Here’s a quick summary:

  • You must free the Green Prince in Sinner’s Road.
  • You need to meet the Green Prince in a couple of locations in the Citadel. This has to be done during Act 2.
  • You’ll encounter the Green Prince in Verdania Ruins. However, to access Lost Verdania, you have to progress further into Act 3 to obtain the Elegy of the Deep song for your Needolin.

How to free the Green Prince?

Before you can unlock the Hollow Knight: Silksong Verdania secret area, you must first rescue the Green Prince. He’s trapped in the Sinner’s Road zone. It’s at the top-right exit just above the Halfway Home in Greymoor. To free him, you need to obtain a Simple Key.

Where to find the Green Prince in the Citadel?

Next, you have to talk to the Green Prince in a couple of areas in the Citadel:

  • Choral Chamber: The hallway directly above the Citadel Spa.
  • Cogwore Core: The path to the left of the Cogwork Dancers boss arena. You must clear this boss encounter first to make the Green Prince spawn.

Note: We did these steps during Act 2 of the campaign. We’re unable to confirm if the Green Prince still appears here during Act 3.

Where to find Verdania Ruins and its map?

Next, if you head to the far-right area of Greymoor–i.e. where you found a Lost Flea and a Thread Storm silk skill. Pogo onto the balloons and go through the passageway in the lower-right corner.

You’ll see the Green Prince mourning a fallen warrior. Go further to the right and enter the hidden tunnel. You’ll find a bench here, as well as the Hollow Knight: Silksong Verdania map.

How to unlock Lost Verdania?

As mentioned earlier, you can only unlock Lost Verdania in Hollow Knight: Silksong during Act 3. Here’s a quick summary:

  • To begin Act 3, you must complete a secret quest called Silk and Soul. With that done, you have to ensnare the final boss, too.
  • Progress through the main quest and talk to the Snail Shamans in Mosshome.
  • You’ll receive an ability called Elegy of the Deep. It opens up new areas if you play your Needolin while pressing down on the D-pad.
  • Return to where you met the Green Prince in Verdania Ruins. Play the Elegy of the Deep to be teleported to the alternate realm of Lost Verdania.

Lost Verdania challenges and tasks

There are a few tasks that you need to do if you wish to help the Green Prince in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The gist is that you need to look for areas with sparkling light orbs. These spawn from shrines, altars, white flowers, and, in some cases, minibosses, too. The goal is to rush toward each light orb in sequence. Once you’ve touched all of these, the main light orb will fly off into the distance.

Lost Verdania: Boss fight and rewards

Note that there’s a miniboss in Lost Verdania known as the Palestag. That foe also spawns light orbs that you need to catch. Assuming you’ve found every single light orb in the zone, make your way to the top-middle section of the area. There, you’ll be able to enter a house. Inside, you’ll face the Green Prince.

The Green Prince boss fight–i.e. Clover Dancers–is akin to the Cogwork Dancers encounter from the Citadel. But there are some notable differences:

  • There’s only one target–the Green Prince–not his light clone.
  • The powerful ability performed in the middle of the room causes a cyclone that rotates.

Once you’ve beaten the Green Prince, Hornet will wake up back in the ruins of old Verdania. There’s a glowing item nearby. Pick it up to acquire the Conjoined Heart. This is a memento that’s part of your collection.

That does it for our Hollow Knight: Silksong Verdania Green Prince guide. Since you’re fairly close to the endgame now, you might want to check our (spoiler-filled) endings guide in case you want to know how to conclude the campaign.
