Horizon Zero Dawn Meets Stardew Valley in New Survival RPG

The great thing about Steam is that it gives us easy access to more games than ever before, and while there are certainly plenty of absolute duds out there, it’s also possible to find genuinely interesting gems that might otherwise have gone entirely unnoticed.

Whether they be indie gems or bigger games from regions outside of Europe and America, it’s a platform that makes discovering your next favourite game that little bit easier.

One of the upcoming releases that caught our eye is Silicone Heart, a sandbox adventure from developer Garden of Dreams that sees the player try to survive and thrive on a junkyard planet infested with broken and generally unfriendly robots.

The game’s pixel art style immediately jumps out as Stardew Valley-esque, with the angled top-down view only furthering room for that comparison. On the flip side of that, the robotic features and strange, mechanical creations should capture the intrigue of Horizon Zero Dawn fans, even if they couldn’t look more different from a distance.

As described by the developer, Silicone Heart will see you “uncover the history of the planet and all its inhabitants. Gather resources, repair and upgrade machinery, and craft complex tools to build your own farm and explore a fascinating, unique world filled with mysteries waiting to be discovered.”

From what we can see so far, the game also goes considerably deeper than a lot of the farming sims out there, with building upgrades, special tools and even automation of resource collection, garden care, animal tending, and other tasks, thanks to the machinery you’ll be able to build.

One of the coolest features is a city populated by friendly, though often a bit broken, robots. Over the course of the game, you’ll be able to help your automaton pals by repairing them and becoming a bit of a legend in the artificial community. You’ll even be able to fix entirely busted (i.e. dead) robots and return them to their approximation of life, where they’ll become valued members of the city’s ever expanding population.

Silicone Heart also features full character customisation (though why you’d want to remove the default characters magnificent moustache is beyond us), as well as plenty of secrets to uncover and a narrative that explains where you are and how it ended up like it did.

There’s currently no available release date for Silicone Heart, though the developer is intending to bring it to all platforms when it does release.
