Just last week, Sam Eng and Devolver Digital released their stylish skateboarding video game Skate Story, which became part of the PS Plus Game Catalog on launch day. However, PS5 Pro owners who took on the role of the glass skater found that it performed terribly on the enhanced PlayStation console. The developer has now implemented a new update that fixes the bug plaguing the PS5 Pro version.
Skate Story update fixes PS5 Pro version
In a recent post on Blue Sky, the Skate Story account announced that they deployed the PS5 Pro patch, which included bug fixes and optimization improvements. Although specifics were not detailed, it simply said to “please update your game to see the changes.”
It appears that the new Skate Story update has, in fact, optimized the PS5 Pro version of the game. Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, who pointed out the issues when the game launched last week, confirmed that it is now “awesome” on the PS5 Pro, and that it was just a bug that was missed.
Skate Story’s initial performance woes on the PS5 Pro were a bit of a mystery, as all the other platforms, including the base PS5, seemed to perform as expected. According to Linneman’s initial posts about the PS5 Pro version, it was “extremely unstable” and “VRR can’t save it.” Fortunately, that is no longer the case.
When Skate Story launched last week, it was met with solid reviews from critics. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 87 across 26 critic reviews.
