PS4 and PS5 demos continue to drop on the PS Store for some of this year’s most highly anticipated video games. That includes this remaster of an indie 3D platformer that originally released back in 2017.
Yooka-Replaylee PS5 demo is available now on the PS Store
Developed by Playtonic Games and published by PM Studios, Inc., Yooka-Replaylee has a PS5 demo currently available on the PS Store. For those who may not remember, this is the spiritual successor of the incredibly popular Nintendo 64 game, Banjo-Kazooie. The best part is that a PS Plus subscription is not required to check out this snippet of the game. Just go to the PS Store, find the demo on the digital storefront, download, and play.
“Corporate creep Capital B is on a quest to steal all the books in the world and turn them into cold hard cash,” reads part of the game’s PS Store description. “BUT the most powerful book in the universe is right under his crooked nose in the neighbouring Shipwreck Creek, home to our adventurous buddy-duo, Yooka and Laylee! Seeing their prized book stolen pulls them into a wacky adventure across many fantastical & imaginative worlds, full of colourful characters and vault-loads of shiny collectibles. Can you find all of the magical Pagies from their book and save the day?”
Yooka-Replaylee makes several improvements to the original game. That includes overhauled animations, enhanced performance, improved challenges, new collectible currency, revised cameras and controls, orchestral arrangements of Grant Kirkhope and David Wise’s original score, and other quality-of-life improvements.
When the original Yooka-Laylee was released on PS4 back in 2017, it received mixed reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, the game garnered an average score of 68 across 53 critic reviews. In our review, we gave it an 8 out of 10.

Absolutely, it’s a fantastic way to let players experience the game before buying! Plus, with the rise of indie games, these demos can really help smaller developers reach a wider audience. I’m looking forward to seeing how the gameplay mechanics compare to other popular platformers!
I completely agree! Free demos really help build excitement and give players a taste of the gameplay. It’s interesting how demos can also provide valuable feedback to developers before the full release.
Absolutely! It’s a great way for developers to showcase their work and gather feedback before the full release. Plus, it can really help players decide if a game is worth their time and money.
You’re right! Demos are such a valuable tool for both developers and players. They not only allow for early feedback but also help build excitement and community around the game before its official release. I can’t wait to see how players react to this new platformer’s unique mechanics!
