Halo’s new Xbox remake is an instant culture war disaster

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a new remake of a 25-year-old game. It is, by many accounts, great: faithful where it needs to be while also charting a new course forward for a series that has been the face of Xbox for as long as it has existed. In theory, the discussion about Halo: Campaign Evolved as a game should amount to, “yep, pretty good!” And yet, it has found itself at the eye of the culture war hurricane du jour.
