Earlier this week, Gunzilla Games was accused of late payments by one of its former employees. What’s more, several other employees jumped in on LinkedIn and also mentioned similar issues, claiming they hadnโt been paid for several months.
Finally, the studio behind the NFT battle royale game Off The Grid and the Gunz blockchain platform has responded. Its CEO, Vlad Korolev defended his game before addressing the contentious issue on X.
He describes this story of unpaid wages as a “new narrative from detractors”. While he acknowledges cost-cutting measures and payment delays that may have lasted up to a week, he asserts that the company honors its obligations and pays all its full-time employees on time.
“Today there is a new narrative from haters โ that Gunzilla incorrectly laid off contractors or paid them with delays.”
“Yes, we are optimizing costs โ like every company in gaming, crypto, and tech is doing right now. We have been doing this for over a year.”
“And yes, to not disrupt company operations, some payments may be scheduled in a way that works for the companyโs cash flow โ not always for everyone individually. Thatโs the reality of the world we live in.”
“But to protect the interests of our players and our full-time official employees โ whose salaries, over 6 years, have never been delayed by more than a week โ we operate at a pace that ensures the company continues moving forward. And of course, we honor every obligation.”
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Korolev concluded by noting that the person who posted these comments on LinkedIn left Gunzilla a week ago and was paid immediately.
