GTA 6 pre-orders to start this month as fans fear the price reveal

Rockstar Games has revealed the cover art for GTA 6 and the date for when pre-orders will start on PS5 and Xbox but the price is still unknown.

There’s rarely any warning for when Rockstar Games announces anything and that’s certainly the case today, with a solitary tweet revealing new artwork, including the cover art, and a date for when pre-orders will begin.

From June 25 you’ll be able to pre-order the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but there’s not yet any indication of price, with some fearing Ā£100 or more but Rockstar owners Take-Two are trying to temper concerns that it’ll be anything more than the industry norm of Ā£70.

Either way, the announcement of pre-orders opening also brings with it the strong possibility of a new trailer, although in typical Rockstar fashion they haven’t either confirmed or denied that.

It’s over a year since Trailer 2 of the game debuted and there’s still no real clue as to when another might arrive, even though nothing has really been shown of the gameplay so far.

However, Take-Two has previously stated that marketing will begin for the game this summer, of which this tweet is the first evidence.

Is there a GTA 6 collector’s edition?

Whether Trailer 3 will be out this month or not is hard to say but what is all but certain is that additional editions of the game will be announced.

While there is a good chance that the standard edition of GTA 6 will cost £70, Rockstar will almost certainly have a more expensive deluxe edition, which, with other games, typically cost around £90.

If GTA 6 has a deluxe edition that might be the point at which it starts costing Ā£100 and then after that there’ll probably be a collector’s edition of some sort.

There was one for GTA 5, although it didn’t come out at launch, but when it did it was over Ā£100. Collector’s Editions from other publishers can cost over Ā£200, depending on what’s in them, although it’s usually just things like statues.

Will GTA 6 have online at launch?

The main reason we need a new trailer is because not only have Rockstar not really shown any gameplay (all the footage is in-game graphics but it doesn’t really show anyone playing it normally) is that we know absolutely nothing about GTA 6’s online plans.

GTA Online was not available until a few weeks after the launch of GTA 5 and it might well be the same for GTA 6, but that’s not guranteed.

It’s also not clear whether this would be called GTA Online 2 or if it would try and incorporate everything that GTA Online currently is and then add onto it. That’s relatively unlikely though, as that’d be quite overwhelming for new players.

Another big question is whether the rumours of having user created content (like Roblox but for adults) is true and if that’ll be available at launch. That’s impossible to know right now but it wouldn’t be surprising if that came later.
