Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are live – £70 / $80 / €80 regional pricing confirmed

The pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 have gone live, and the regional pricing for the game has now been confirmed to be £69.99 GBP / $79.99 USD / €79.99 EUR through the US and Europe for the Standard Edition, and £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 for the Ultimate Edition.

Pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store here:

  • GTA 6 pre-orders on the PlayStation Store UK, USA, Europe
  • GTA 6 pre-orders on the Xbox StoreUK, USA, Europe

And you can find the boxed game pre-orders live on retailers including Argos, ShopTo, Amazon, Smyths and more.

Note, the physical release of GTA 6 is a download code in a box and not a disc. This cuts off the second hand market for this game entirely, even compared to discs that lack a playable game without patch downloads. It does, however, mean that GTA 6 boxes will be shipped for 12th November to allow buyer to pre-load, just like digital pre-orders, ahead of the 19th November launch.

After some industry analysts expected that GTA 6 would be a $100 game, and early listings suggesting €90, this feels like a reasonable starting price. Yes, it is an $80 game, and only Nintendo had tried that before with Mario Kart World, but it’s a more incremental step for a game which could really name its price for many gamers. Of course, there is still the upsell to the Ultimate Edition, which is no doubt going to be very popular.

All pre-orders gain a bonus Vintage Vice City bundle of cosmetics, vehicle and weapon patterns for anyone that purchases up to the 20th November, while digital pre-orders can redeem one month of GTA+ for free. The Ultimate Edition, meanwhile, has a much more extensive package of cosmetics, vehicles and exclusive in-game shops which are unlocked through the course of the story. You can find all the details of these bonuses and bundles here.

It’s not expected that there are any perks for the Ultimate Edition related to the next generation of GTA Online. In fact, Take Two describe GTA 6 as “a single-player experience” with no mention of a new GTA Online at all! Even if there are, the Ultimate Edition contents will be made available to buyers of the Standard Edition with an upgrade package able to be purchased separately.

All of which is to say… I know it’s terribly exciting for GTA 6 to finally be coming out and people want to play it as soon as possible, but there’s absolutely no point pre-ordering or buying it until 12th November at the very earliest. There’s no benefits to ordering before then, outside of, perhaps, a personal need to budget finances. In fact, you can probably get away with pre-ordering a few days later because Sony and Microsoft’s servers will be absolutely crushed by pre-loads on the 12th.
