Ghost of Yōtei, Sucker Punch Productions’ newest open-world action-adventure and follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, is out now on PS5. Retailing for $69.99, it follows the story of Atsu, an “Onryō” on a quest to slay the Yōtei Six and avenge her family.
Set more than 300 years after the events of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei doesn’t share any direct connections (Atsu isn’t a descendant of Jin Sakai or anything like that). However, it follows similar gameplay fundamentals with players using Guiding Wind to orient themselves and utilizing familiar tools like Smoke Bombs, Kunai, Scorch Bombs, and more.
The combat feels similar as well, but this time, you can wield multiple different weapons like the dual swords, yari, kusarigama, odachi, and even new firearms. Finding and learning from masters is essential to utilizing them, though, and some enemies are naturally weaker to certain weapon types. However, if you want to rock a single weapon type throughout, Sucker Punch won’t exactly punish you (it is difficult, though).
