Returning to Teyvat, HoYoverse announced the launch of Genshin Impact’s newest region, Nod-Krai, with new characters, quests, and many more.

Marking its fifth anniversary and expanding its ever-growing world, Genshin Impact has launched its major annual update, Version Luna I: “A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves.” The update brings players to Teyvat’s seventh region, Nod-Krai.

In the new area, players will embark on an adventure with a fresh cast of characters to hunt down a Fatui Harbinger, harness the ancient kuuvahki energy for exploration and combat, and recruit new heroes into their rosters. In addition, the Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program will return Sept. 20, 2025.

For those curious about the action role-playing game, Genshin Impact is set in Teyvat, a world filled with regions inspired by real-life locations — from Mondstadt, based on Germany, to the latest addition, Nod-Krai, inspired by the Baltic Sea region. Players take on the role of a Traveller, exploring the world, completing quests, and meeting companions while searching for a lost sibling. Along the way, they can recruit and level up companions, enhance weapons and artifacts, and build varied parties for combat and exploration.

In Nod-Krai, the latest Archon Quest follows the Travellers as they work alongside the Lauma of the Frostmoon Scions, battle the Wild Hunt with Flins, and meet new companions in Nasha Town, including Dori, Nefer and Jahoda. Players will also encounter Columbina, a Moon Maiden who left the Fatui and returned to her homeland. Finally, they must confront the Fatui Harbinger Marionette, who seeks to claim the moon’s power from her stronghold.

Expanding on the new playable companions that will be joining the Traveller adventures in version Luna I, here are the details about their story and playstyle:

  • Lauma, 5-star Catalyst wielder – Known as the Moonchanter and greatly respected in the Frostmoon Scions. With her bond to the animals, the nearby creatures can provide healing, food, and ores to assist the party, and utilize the new Lunar-Bloom reaction with her Dendro power.
  • Flins, 5-star Polearm wielder – Harnessing the power of Electro through its Lunar-Charged strikes, Flins is a seasoned Lightkeeper, using his lantern to sense the Wild Hunt and understanding their mysterious whispers.
  • Aino, 4-star Claymore wielder – The inventor of “Knuckle Duckle” and unlocks an exclusive interaction with the robot. Recruited for free during the progression of the new Archon Quests.

With the new companions, take the time to explore their day-to-day lives in the latest feature, “Meeting Point”, from Lauma and Flins sharing tales about ancient legends to Ineffa and Aino having heartwarming moments.

With the launch of Genshin Impact’s latest update, we can’t forget about the Event Wishing Banner that will be available during Version Luna I. The first half of the Event Wishes will feature Lauma and Nahida rerun, alongside the Sumeru-themed Chronicled Wish for players to select their desired 5-star Sumeru character. During the second half of the Event Wishes, Flins, Aino, and Yelan’s rerun will follow suit.

Following the launch of Version Luna I and the celebration of Genshin Impact’s fifth anniversary, there will be plenty of rewards for players to claim. The rewards that will be available are:

  • A free 5-star character from the Standard Wish, with the required ascension material to level the character up to Level 60.
  • 10x Interwined Fate
  • 1,600x Primogems
  • Two special Nod-Krai-themed gadgets

Continuing to celebrate its 5th anniversary, HoYoFair will host a Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program, titled “Parallels Meet,” on September 20 at 4:00 PM EST, across YouTube, X, Instagram, and TikTok. During the two-hour showcase, the program will feature:

  • If Genshin Had a Cyberpunk Anime: Progenitor – Series finale by dillongoo
  • Genshin Elemental Warfare – New chapter by No-Tables
  • An animated short by KIERU, featuring Yelan and “Regrator”
  • Shadows in the Sands – New episode by Subutai, exploring the ancient era of Xblanque in Natlan
  • A new K-pop series, featuring a new boy group joining the lineup
  • The debut of the singer ReoNa, who is behind the official theme song, and the Japanese voice actors for Varesa, Kokomi, Amber, Kirara, and Layla, who appeared together in a girl band-themed animation

Before wrapping up, Genshin Impact will be collaborating with Among Us from September 11 to October 11, 2025, gifting Paimon Wig and Paimon Costume for players to dress as Paimon during their match, and a Crest of the Best Travel Companion Nameplate.

That’s about everything arriving in Genshin Impact’s latest update, Version Luna I: “A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves”. To join in on the many adventures, Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox, Google Play, iOS, and PC via Epic Games Store and HoYoPlay.
