Finding a game console at the end of the year could prove difficult. Indeed, several factors are likely to cause stock shortages around the world.
This is according to a major retailer who spoke anonymously to The Game Business. As a result, the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles may be very hard to find in stores during the Christmas season. This is due to “on-going issues around hardware component availability.” The release of GTA VI could also impact console availability.
“We’ve been informed that because of the on-going issues around hardware component availability, we won’t be getting the units we want ahead of GTA.
Demand will likely outstrip supply during the year end period.”
So far, Sony and Microsoft have not commented on the matter.
