Frostpunk 1886 is Adding More Personality to Citizens, Upgrading Lighting, and More

In a new update to Frostpunk 1886, which 11 bit studios promises is “so much more” than a remaster, game director Maciej Sułecki revealed how it’s making the Frostland feel more desolate yet alive than before. Check out the video below.

As with the original, you can see your citizens wandering around, except this time, they sport more detailed animations. Motion capture is employed to truly make them stand out and, hopefully, motivate you to keep them alive. The lighting system has also been upgraded, causing the city’s glow to stand out amid the harsh weather.

Even the building textures have been overhauled and look more worn down, which fits the post-apocalyptic experience. Of course, all this is a work in progress – Frostpunk 1886 won’t release until 2027. However, the inclusion of new content, mechanics, mod support, and a new Progress Path offers hope for what’s to come. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
