Epic Games is now offering developers the ability to create AI-powered characters in Fortnite with a new “conversation” system that’s currently in experimental phase.
With this new feature, an NPC will be able to engage in spontaneous conversations and interact with players. To do this, you simply need to define basic characteristics such as its way of thinking, its knowledge, and its general temperament. You then choose its voice.
Your character will then be able to trigger in-game events on its own, react based on specific contexts, and remember what happened during a match to adapt its behavior in real time.
The goal is to make NPCs more responsive to player actions and changes in the Fortnite world.
