Released this week on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, Styx: Blades of Greed has been fairly well received. It has a Metacritic average of 75% and « mostly positive » reviews on Steam.
On social media, the official account for the infiltration game from Cyanide Studio was quick to celebrate this success. In a message posted on X, the title also took the opportunity to take a jab at one of its competitors.
While mentioning Eurogamer’s review, which gave it a score of 4/5, Styx: Blades of Greed mentioned the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Considered « easily the best stealth game in years » by Eurogamer, Cyanide’s title provoked Ubisoft’s series by asking, « What are you going to say about that, HUH?! ».
What’s more, when a user pointed out that Sam Fisher is the king of stealth, the studio was quick to respond that the agent is content to « stay in the shadows » for now. Finally, in response to a user who asked Cyanide to reply in French so that Ubisoft could understand, the developer simply replied, « Baguette croissant fromage ? ».
Admittedly, this was a rather daring communication strategy.
