Last November, the production company FX confirmed the development of a Far Cry TV series. It will be produced by Noah Hawley, who previously worked on Fargo and Alien: Earth.
In an interview with Deadline, the American filmmaker was asked about this adaptation of the Ubisoft video game. He revealed that the series will not be based on any specific Far Cry title.
« We can have a long discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of adapting video games, particularly because games are designed in a way that doesn’t perfectly lend itself to drama.
When you play a video game, you mainly progress through the gameplay, and then there are those cutscenes that you can skip. So, when adapting these games, you have to be aware that human drama becomes almost superfluous to the story. That’s a surefire way to kill a series. »
For now, the cast and release date of the series remain unknown.
