Every Switch 2 Upgrade From The September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Including A Free Stardew Valley Update And Hades 2 At 120 FPS

The main advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 over its predecessor is its improved hardware, so it’s nice that so many developers, Nintendo included, are taking advantage of it to boost Switch 1 titles. Today’s Nintendo Direct may have announced huge new games, like Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, but we also got smaller improvements to some exciting games from the Switch 1’s lineup. From Stardew Valley to Hades II, here’s every Switch 2 version we learned about today.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2

Spring 2026

This upgraded Switch 2 version of one of our favorite games of 2023 adds Bellabel Park, a new area where you can experience a slew of attractions to cooperate or compete with your fellow players. The trailer also teased some other improvements and content, though we’ll have to wait a bit longer to learn what those are. Bellabel Park drops next spring.

Stardew Valley

Fall 2025

One of the biggest indie games of all time is getting an upgrade on Nintendo’s newest console. In addition to mouse controls, which will make some tasks like decorating and inventory management slightly more convenient, it’s getting support for new multiplayer options. Stardew Valley on Switch 2 will support four-player split screen, eight-player online play, and GameShare, the Switch 2 feature that allows you to play with another console, even if they don’t have the game. Best of all, this update is completely free.

Overcooked! 2

Holiday 2025

The goofy kitchen sim that will make you question your closest relationships is getting some performance boosts on Switch 2. You’ll be able to play in 4K at 60 fps, and it’ll also include GameShare as well as Camera Play, meaning you can watch the light drain from your companions’ eyes as they realize they burned another pizza and let everyone down. Exciting! The Switch 2 version will also add an exclusive playable chef: Platinum Platypus.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

Fall 2025

Today’s 15-second trailer for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 only clarified that the Switch 2 version of the game will fit more enemies on the screen at once. It’s not super clear what other upgrades are coming to this new version, but a press release has clarified it will be available as a free download for owners of the Switch 1 version this fall.

Hades II

September 25, 2025

It’s not news that this game is getting a Switch 2 edition โ€“ we knew that from the console’s first reveal โ€“ but today we learned the exact improvements. The Switch 2 version of the game will be able to run at 4K resolution with 120 fps while docked and at 1080p resolution with 60 fps in handheld mode. Both the Switch 1 and 2 versions are out digitally in just a few weeks on September 25.
