Epic Games will shut down Rocket Racing, Ballistic and Festival Battle Stage this year

Epic Games is having quite the chaotic week, to say the least. The American company announced the layoff of more than 1,000 employees, and Fortnite hasn’t been spared either.

As a result, Epic has confirmed the closure of several projects, starting with Fortnite Ballistic and Fortnite Festival: Battle Stage as of April 16, 2026. The first is a 5v5 tactical mode played in rounds with a first-person perspective. The second invites players to a musical free-for-all across four tracks.

Finally, Rocket Racing, a racing experience developed by Psyonix (Rocket League), will be discontinued in October 2026.

It’s always tough to see games go, especially ones that have brought joy to many. Epic Games has certainly had a busy week, and changes like these can be challenging for the gaming community. Here’s hoping for new adventures ahead!
