The $1.5 billion deal between Disney and Epic Games goes on following the layoffs carried out by the company behind Fortnite last month. Better yet, this collaboration will come to fruition as early as this year with the launch of a brand-new game.
Bloomberg claims that a shooter featuring Disney characters is set to launch in November 2026. According to four anonymous Epic employees, the game’s concept will be similar to that of Arc Raiders, so we can expect an extraction phase at the end of each match.
Unfortunately, initial feedback on this project has been somewhat mixed. Internally, concerns remain about the gameplay’s lack of originality. Some Epic employees remain confident, however, that improvements will be made before release.
Finally, also as part of this agreement, a second Disney game is reportedly in development. This one has reportedly received a fairly negative reception within Epic’s teams. It’s also worth noting that a third title was in the works, but its resources were reportedly reallocated to the other two games due to Disney’s disappointment with the release schedule proposed by Epic.
