Electronic Arts has carried out a new round of layoffs, primarily affecting roles unrelated to game development. The teams affected include recruitment, customer support (Fan Care), trust and safety, and certain IT departments. The exact number of positions eliminated has not been disclosed.
The layoffs affected both remote workers in the United States and employees at EAβs office in Hyderabad, India, some of whom had been with the company for more than ten years. These layoffs come as EA is set to be acquired shortly by a group of investors, including Saudi Arabia is set to acquire the company, holding 93.4% of the company.
According to an internal memo obtained by the website Kotaku, EA justifies this restructuring by citing the need to adapt its organization to the evolving needs of players. The company plans to modify certain positions, create new ones, and transfer certain activities to other teams, locations, or external partners.
This announcement is part of a long series of workforce reductions at EA in recent years. Following several hundred job cuts in 2023, 2024, and 2025, this is reportedly at least the third wave of layoffs in 2026.
