Square Enix have delved into the archives and given Dragon Quest VII, a PlayStation One game, a glow-up for consoles and PC. The game follows the hero, conveniently named Hero, and his chums as they discover secrets about the mysterious islands surrounding their home of Estard. Using some ancient ruins they can transport themselves to other islands and battle creatures and score the loot.
The original game is famous for being extremely long and can take hundreds of hours to complete, and that’s without chasing side quests. Dragon Quest VII has already had one remake, having appeared on Nintendo 3DS back in 2016. As we’re very old we were around then to review it and gave it a very noble 8/10.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be released Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on Windows on Thursday, February 5th, 2026.
