Steve Harrington was supposed to die in Stranger Things season 1. The beloved character, played by Joe Keery, was originally meant to complete his arc from pompous high school cool kid to genuine hero before meeting his grisly fate at the end of the Netflix show’s first batch of episodes. It was only after series creators the Duffer Brothers saw Keery in action that they expanded the role. Almost a decade later, something similar happened in Stranger Things season 5.
