Cyberpunk 2077 and Need For Speed Collide in Wild New Game Reboot

Described as Cyberpunk 2077 meets Need for Speed, this upcoming high-octane racing game with an anime aesthetic is guaranteed to give you the ride of your life.

Developed by Milestone S.r.l., Screamer is an arcade racing game featuring both fighting mechanics and a story that hits hard in a world where you can race for glory or revenge.

With every race a fight, and every battle personal, this is a racing game unlike any other.

Featuring a world reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077 with the high-octane racing we all know and love from Need for Speed, Screamer has it all.

“Longing, ambition, vengeance. Everyone has a reason to enter the Screamer tournament, and no one’s backing down,” the official synopsis reads.

“Join the competition and race side by side with fearless drivers, ready to push past every limit to chase what they believe in.”

With racing teams consisting of soldiers, scientists, criminals, superstars and ruthless magnates, all of their paths will now converge as they take to the asphalt in the mysterious Screamer tournament.

Led by an unknown master, this competition will be a way for each participant to reach their personal goals.

However, you must choose your driver carefully if you wish to come out on top as each boast their very own unique abilities and design.

Set in a retro-futuristic setting inspired by 90s anime, Screamer takes place in a world where the stakes are always high but the view is oh so rewarding.

We Loved Screamer in our Preview

Our very own Sam Cawley was lucky enough to preview Screamer back in September and called it an “anime racer turned fighting game”.

“Visually the game was quite stunning too. It adopts a 3D anime aesthetic but doesn’t just stop at cell-shaded graphics, it goes further and exhibits a style reminiscent of Akira and other ‘80s anime,” his preview read.

“Even when I was losing races I couldn’t help but take in the environments and the clashing sparks and energies lighting up the air.

Screamer has impressed me so far, and I love the idea of combining a racing game with a fighting game.

I can’t wait to play more and see what players make of it when it launches, though we’ll have to wait a while yet as it’s scheduled for some time in 2026.

It releases in 2026 indeed and more specifically, it is set to launch on 26 March 2026 so you do not have long to dust off that clutch and take to the track in the highly anticipated Screamer Tournament.
