Since its launch in December, Skate has had a bit of an uphill battle, being criticized by fans waiting years to see the beloved series make a comeback. Despite its middling reception, Electronic Arts and Full Circle plan to make tons of improvements, and it seems that all begins with Season 2.

Skate Season 2 is adding tons of new features and content

In Full Circle’s announcement for Skate Season 2, the developer gives fans an idea of what to expect from the next batch of seasonal content. Much of this includes highly requested features, like Party Voice Chat, new and improved tricks, and improvements to the Replay Editor. There will also be a new mode called Own the Lot, which tasks players with completing as many tasks as possible within a time limit.

Thanks to feedback from the fans, Full Circle is changing how it deals out challenges and how much Tix will be earned for completing those challenges.

“We heard your feedback on the lack of new challenges each week for Season 1, and we’re changing how they’re delivered,” says the post. “We’ll still have Seasonal Challenges dropping every week, but we’ll also reset them twice over the Season, giving you more chances (roughly 4x as many as Season 1!) to earn Tix. Each individual challenge won’t provide quite as many Tix, but over the season, you’ll be able to earn more than twice the Tix from Seasonal Challenges, not including the Tix you can also gain from the new Own the Lots.”

In terms of actual content coming with Season 2, there will be 100 tiers for players to work through between the 40 Standard tiers (which are free) and the 60 Premium tiers. This includes 35 free cosmetics and 5 tiers of San Van Bucks on the Standard track. The Premium track includes 57 cosmetic items and 3 tiers of San Van Bucks. In total, there are 92 cosmetic items and 8 tiers of San Van Bucks (a total of 500).

Skate is also bringing in a handful of new brand partners to the game. This includes OJ, Ricta, Sci-Fi Fantasy, and Adidas.

Like last season, Skate will add more songs to its constantly rotating playlist. Here is a selection of the 25 new songs being brought to the game:

  • Public Enemy – Public Enemy No. 1
  • Suicidal Tendencies – You Can’t Bring Me Down
  • Motörhead – Overkill
  • Killing Joke – Eighties
  • The Bombay Royale – Monkey Fight Snake

Lastly, there will be two Events during Season 2. The first will be the Winter Roll-Stice, which, as the name indicates, is its winter-themed event. After that, the Spring Pop-Off will commence, celebrating the Spring season. These events will include community park updates and themed cosmetics for a limited time.
