After spending some time playing State of Decay 3 with the devs at their studio, videographer Brian Menard posted a video on his YouTube channel that provides a wealth of information about the long-awaited title.
The game will feature co-op for up to four players in a shared, persistent open world, without the restrictions of previous installments. Players will be able to join or leave a game at any time, continue their progress asynchronously, and complete different missions across the map. The map will be approximately four times larger than that of State of Decay 2.
All players will contribute to the development of the same settlements and share a common community, reinforcing the cooperative aspect. Survivors will remain at the heart of the experience, with the ability to manage up to three settlements—a maximum of 36 survivors. Players will need to develop bases, manage resources, craft equipment, and level up the skills and specializations of each community member.
Finally, threats will be more dynamic than ever thanks to the evolution of the Blood Plague, infestations, hordes, and Plague Hearts. Exploration, looting, and eliminating dangers will be essential to ensuring the community’s long-term survival.
State of Decay 3 is expected to release on PC, XBOX Series X|S, and PS5 in 2027.
